ClinTec raises US game with New York office, Pavone appointment

UK-based clinical research organisation (CRO) ClinTec International has stepped up its US presence by opening a new office in New York City and installing Susan Pavone as associate director of US business operations.

Clintec previously ran a regional office for North America from Boston, servicing international clients by partnering with US CROs that were confined to the domestic market or had limited global scope.

By moving its US operation to New York, and with the appointment of Pavone, the company has “established a solid foothold … in the lucrative US market”, enabling it to offer “prospective US clients the chance to access global clinical research capabilities through a single partner”, it stated.

The higher US visibility continues a trend of internationalisation that last year saw ClinTec establish new offices in 17 different countries. More recently, the CRO strengthened its commitment to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by opening an office in Cairo, Egypt.

In the current economic climate, life science and pharmaceutical companies in the US are “struggling to find medium-sized global CROs capable of facilitating global clinical research needs”, the company commented. “ClinTec has implemented a differentiated solution to mid-market competitors which combines all developed and emerging markets into a single global research platform.”

Susan Pavone has more than two decades’ worth of industry experience, including eight years managing the business operations of Pfizer ‘internal CRO’ at Pfizer, ClinTec noted.
Privately owned, the company was founded in 1997 by its president Dr Rabinder Buttar and now has a presence in 40 developed and emerging markets across Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Central and South Africa, Latin America, India and the US.

With particular expertise in oncology, the CRO also handles clinical development in therapeutic areas including anti-infectives, cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, respiratory medicine and rheumatology.
