PharmaTimes March

PharmaTimes Business Manager of the Year - participants fact sheet

What are the advantages for participation for you, your line manager and your organisation?

•    The competition is run to the highest standards of professional competence and integrity, with the sole aim of helping you with your career and boosting confidence in your professional abilities.  It’s not time consuming with the first stage a 500 word response to a case study and at the finals there is no preparation prior to the day, so no loss of focus on the day job.

•    Feedback is provided at all stages with both qualitative and quantitative benchmarking data. You will get your results for stage one with an indication of quartile performance and written feedback from the judging panel. The first stage is anonymised prior to marking removing potential for bias and the finals are judged by a cross-industry and NHS customer panel.

•    At the finals you will get your scores across a range of competencies against the average for the finalists in your cohort. In addition you will get qualitative feedback and all finalists are assigned a mentor from the judging panel to provide additional insight if you require it.

•    There are no costs for entry to the competition and feedback is provided at stage one to all participants.  Should you progress beyond stage one to the finals, there is some time and travel associated with attendance (1/2 day).  The results will be announced on 25 October in Central London and so there is time and travel associated (1 day). We invite all finalists to bring company colleagues to support you and to gain insight into the conclusions from the competition, with perspectives from NHS Customers and senior industry sales leaders. Tickets for the presentation ceremony are £220 plus VAT.

•    The tasks are fictious, competency-based and specific to your category and levels of experience, so present a good learning opportunity with no concerns about sharing commercially sensitive information. The tasks are devised by Senior Sales Managers and NHS customers and so provide a distillation of the latest business thinking.

•    Success in the competition is promoted by PharmaTimes through its various platforms including PharmaTimes Magazine, PharmaTimes.com and PharmaTimes direct to desktop news services (World News, UK News and Clinical News). Your profile and that of your organisation is raised through these activities and will endorse the recruitment, training and development programmes employed by your organisation.

•    A White Paper will be produced following the competition providing all the learnings and insights which is available to all participating organisations.
