BioScience Laboratories and Synomics Pharmaceutical Services, two contract research providers based in the US states of Montana and Massachusetts respectively, have announced a formal partnership to offer fully integrated capability for Phase I trials in healthy volunteers.

The combination of BioScience Laboratories’ 18 years of experience in conducting clinical trials and Synomics Pharmaceutical Services’ strong reputation for clinical bioanalysis and analytical chemistry services provides an outsourcing solution for all aspects of Phase I trials compliant with Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice, the companies said.

With demand increasing for high-quality data from clinical trials and a drive to reduce drug development times, “the industry trend is back towards using contract research organisations located in the United States”, they added.

Founded in 1981 in Bozeman, Montana, BioScience Laboratories specialises in antimicrobial product testing and result interpretation. Its services include clinical trial, virology, chemistry and in vitro microbiology laboratories, a skin technology centre, safety testing, and customised statistical design and quantitive analysis.

The Wareham, Massachusetts-headquartered Synomics Pharmaceutical Services was set up in 2005 and is part of the Smithers group of companies, which offer a range of testing, research, consulting, packaging and certification services.

Synomics’ focus is on customised preclinical and clinical bioanalytical, storage stability and analytical chemistry services for the pharmaceutical, personal care and allied industries. According to the company, its quality management system has been “globally recognised by authorities as an industry benchmark”.
