UK-based clinical technology specialist ClinPhone has teamed up with invivodata, a US company that provides device-based eDiaries and other data collection tools to the pharmaceutical industry, to offer best-in-class electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO) solutions to drug and biotechnology companies.

The exclusive global partnership centres on the two ePRO modalities most commonly used to enhance data capture and protocol compliance in clinical trials: device-based ePRO and Interactive Voice Response Systems (IVRSs). According to the new partners, the alliance “brings customers a combination of support and expertise that surpasses anything currently offered in the marketplace in terms of helping them understand which modality would be best suited to their study”.

As part of the collaboration, ClinPhone will join invivodata’s PROPartner programme, enabling invivodata customers to “leverage the strengths of an impressive roster of affiliate technology and service companies whose offerings have been identified as ‘best-in-class’ in their respective market areas”, the partners said.

ClinPhone ePRO is recognised as an industry-leading Interactive Voice Response solution that presents “intuitive and easy-to-use” tools for capturing self-reported patient data, they noted. These tools range from simple diaries to sophisticated health-related quality of life instruments. The device-based solutions offered by invivodata include DiaryPRO for real-time PRO data collection and Site-PRO for site-based collection.

Both companies place a heavy emphasis on regulatory and psychometric validation issues, they point out. They also have strong relationships with industry thought leaders and instrument authors, “furthering the value that this partnership will bring to customers”.

A privately held company with its global headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, invivodata also has European headquarters in London and a technology development centre in Scotts Valley, California.
