There is only a fortnight to go before the winners of 2015’s PharmaTimes Clinical Researcher of the Year – The Americas awards are revealed.

_More than 40 top researchers from the world’s leading CROs including Chiltern, Covance, INC Research, Parexel, PPD, PRA Health Sciences and Quintiles (as well as from Shire, Vince & Associates, Four Rivers Clinical Research, MANA Consulting and Otonomy), will gather in North Carolina on February 26 to compete across six categories – clinical research co-ordinator, new clinical research associate, experienced CRA, project manager, strategic partnership team and company team – for the prestigious awards.

_The competition is organised by an independent executive steering committee drawn from senior industry leaders from big and small pharma, leading CROs and professional membership associations including ACRP and DIA. Finalists will go head-to-head during a one-day real-time challenge (devised by clinical directors from top pharma companies) at the global headquarters of competition partners SAS in North Carolina; the winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony later that day at the Umstead Hotel on the SAS campus.

Professional development

Eileen Daniel, executive director of clinical operations at Nektar Therapeutics, and steering group chair for the competition, said “I am eager to meet the talented people travelling to the Clinical Researcher of the Year finals. It is a great satisfaction to get to know clinical researchers who embrace their profession for sure but also place a high value on their own professional development”.

Ms Daniel added that “year after year, we see evidence of adaptation and contemporary approaches to problem-solving in the ideas Clinical Researcher of the Year competitors put forward. This is so encouraging to see”.

Susan Romberg, vice president of global clinical development at Chiltern, which has five colleagues up for awards, said that “our nominees have put forth a tremendous effort to earn a chance to compete in the finals and they deserve recognition as some of brightest performers in our industry”.__
