Doctors.net.uk, the largest network of medical professionals in the UK, has signed a contract with leading pharma customer relationship management group Cegedim Dendrite to gain access to its OneKey information system and consultancy services.

OneKey is a database used by more than five million healthcare professionals around the globe, a number which the group says will soon exceed eight million with the addition of new subscribers in the United States, China and India, and the deal allows Doctors.net.uk access to the system until 2012.

The database, which is used by sales representatives and a wide range of other factions with an interest in healthcare, such as medical journals and insurance companies, for example, enables users to garner in-depth knowledge on medical information needs in specific categories, and provides various contacts including business and email addresses.

Every week over 50,000 healthcare professionals log into Doctors.net.uk to access an extensive range of offerings such as online education, clinical information and conference highlights, and its link up with OneKey should further extend the breadth and quality of the data it provides, as well as help it keep up-to-date with changes in the National Health Service and the pharmaceutical industry, the groups said.

According to Carwyn Jones, head of pharmaceutical at Doctors.net.uk, the partnership “will be of benefit both to our customers and to our members”, and Cegedim claims the alliance will allow the group to standardise data sets and provide its customers with “enhanced abilities to compare pharmaceutical and medical data that was previously held in disparate silos”.
