Donaldson names Public Health Performance Director

Chief Medical Officer Sir Liam Donaldson has announced the appointment of Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority Chief Executive Angela McNab on a six-month secondment to the Department of Health as Director of Public Health Performance and Delivery.

Chief Medical Officer Sir Liam Donaldson has announced the appointment of Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority Chief Executive Angela McNab on a six-month secondment to the Department of Health as Director of Public Health Performance and Delivery.

According to the Department of Health, Ms McNab, who takes up the post on October 1, will play a key role in helping Sir Liam deliver “this important aspect of the government public health agenda, ensuring the right systems are in place to continue to deliver improvements in health improvement and inequalities.”

Commenting on her appointment, Sir Liam said: “Angela takes on this role at an important time, and will help to ensure that the Department continues to meet its high standards in realising its ambitious public health objectives, and to build on the successes we have already achieved.”

New BMA deputy

Meanwhile, Dr Kate Bullen, an associate specialist anaesthetist from Bristol, has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of the British Medical Association’s Council.

She takes over from Dr Sam Everington, who was deputy chairman of BMA Council from 2004 to 2007.
