An employee spin-off from Eliassen Group, the US-based specialist in technology staffing and consulting services, has created a new dedicated resource in the clinical data-management space.

Now incorporated as eClinical Solutions LLC, the business was set up by Eliassen in 2006 to provide cloud-based data repository solutions and data management services that would drive speed and efficiency in clinical research.

The core technology underpinning the growth of the business and its future as an independent entity is the eGrex platform, which aggregates data from diverse sources into a central standardised warehouse for self-service reporting and data analytics.

With eGrex, clients can instantly visualise, interact with and share data to monitor quality and conduct safety/efficacy analyses, “without having to depend on technical and information-technology teams”, noted Bharat Agrawal, president of eClinical Solutions.

Not quite aligned

According to David MacKeen, chief executive officer at Eliassen Group, the eClinical business model “did not align perfectly” with the Group’s stated strategic direction.

All the same, MacKeen added, “we knew that the division was a valuable asset that needed to be preserved in some form. Certainly we were thrilled when our own employees approached our board with the idea of spinning off the division and creating a stand-alone business entity”.
