An analytics tool that allows clinical and medical teams to visualise, analyse and report on large volumes of laboratory data in real time is the latest Iconik service from Icon, the global provider of outsourced development services based in Ireland.

Previous iterations of the Iconik technology platform have included Iconik Monitoring and Iconik Patient Safety – the latter, a real-time safety monitoring service for clinical trials, introduced last month.

Iconik Labs’ advanced visualisation capabilities mean that project teams can interact with laboratory data and view trends at any level of detail, including patient, site, study or across an entire programme, Icon notes.

The tool enhances study quality by identifying instantly sites with an unusual number of laboratory values outside the normal range, the company adds.

It also has safety benefits: by providing Hy’s Law analysis, Iconik Labs can help to detect trial subjects at risk of drug-induced liver injury.

Transformative tool

According to Dr Steve Cutler, group president, Icon Clinical Research Services, the new tool “has transformed how study teams review and analyse laboratory data”.

It gives study teams quick access to “actionable insights that support earlier, more informed decision-making and more efficient trial management”, Cutler commented.
