ICON’s Murray is ACRO chairman for 2014

The US-based Association of Clinical Research Organizations has named Ciaran Murray, chief executive of global drug-development services provider ICON, as ACRO chairman for 2014.

The US-based Association of Clinical Research Organizations has named Ciaran Murray, chief executive of global drug-development services provider ICON, as ACRO chairman for 2014.

Murray succeeds Josef von Rickenbach, chairman and chief executive officer of PAREXEL International, in the ACRO chairman’s role.

Murray was named ACRO vice chairman for 2013 when von Rickenbach’s appointment was announced a year ago. Stepping into the vice-chairman’s shoes for 2014 is Jamie Macdonald, chief executive officer of INC Research.

ICON’s legal counsel, Diarmaid Cunningham, was elected secretary of ACRO for a second term this year, while Christopher Gaenzle, general counsel of INC Research, becomes ACRO’s treasurer.

Founded in 2002 and based in Washington, DC, ACRO represents leading global clinical-research organisations such as ICON, PAREXEL, Covance, Quintiles, inVentiv Health Clinical, INC Research and PPD.
