A practising neurologist and co-founder of several biotechnology companies has acquired Crystal3 Labs, a small contract research organisation (CRO) based in Boca Raton, US.

Following the takeover by Dr Vithalbhai Dhaduk, who was an investor in Crystal3 Labs, the current Good Manufacturing Practice-standard CRO immediately changed its name to Global Pharma Analytics.

According to chief executive officer Satish Chandran, the new identity “reflects our increased investment in developing CRO services to meet the needs of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies conducting research around the world”.

No financial terms were disclosed for the acquisition. Currently chief of neurology at the Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Dr Dhaduk serves as chairman of a number of biotech companies he has co-founded, including Somahlution, Apicore, Synerex Pharmaceuticals, Nuron-Biotech and Core-Pharma.

Chandran said the deal would enable Global Pharma Analytics to “dramatically expand our business and our growth”.

Founded in 2007, the company provides a range of support services to the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, medical device, packaging, specialty chemical, food product, cosmetic and veterinary science industries.

These include support analytical testing, stability programmes, laboratory maintenance/support and consulting.
