US-based contract research organisation (CRO) Omnicare Clinical Research has added Sweden to its network of offices in 31 countries worldwide.

The CRO already had a presence in Sweden but the office in the Kista Science Tower marks its formal entry into that market. Dr Dale Evans, president and chief executive officer of Omnicare Clinical Research, said the company was “committed to the Scandinavian marketplace, where we already have offices in Denmark and Finland. We’re looking forward to future growth and continued success with our partners in the region”.

The CRO recently opened offices in Shanghai and Beijing, China. Its global network also takes in locations across Europe (including Russia and Poland), in Latin America (e.g., Brazil, Chile), and in other Asia Pacific countries such as Australia, India, Japan and Singapore.

The Pennsylvania-based CRO is a subsidiary of Omnicare, Inc, which provides pharmacy services to long-term care facilities and other chronic-care settings. Omnicare Clinical Research offers Phase I-IV clinical development support to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies. In keeping with its parentage, the company is also an industry leader in geriatrics-focused drug trials.
