Online patient network PatientsLikeMe has teamed up with inVentiv Health, the US-based provider of clinical development, commercialisation and consulting services, to accelerate patient recruitment for clinical trials.

The 200,000 or so PatientsLikeMe members, who share information and experiences on more than 1,500 different diseases and conditions, can now “become even more active in medical research by accessing information on clinical trials conducted by inVentiv’s pharmaceutical customers”, the new associates noted.

Michael Evers, executive vice president of marketing and patient advocacy at PatientsLikeMe, described inVentiv Health as a “critical partner” that “shares our goal of streamlining research to quickly get better treatments to the people who need them”.

For its part, PatientsLikeMe has “pioneered a way for people to learn from, share and contribute health data, and removed traditional barriers between researchers and patients”, Evers said.

Agreement number three

This agreement is inVentiv’s third recent partnership focused on accelerating clinical trials.

In March, the company took an equity stake in clinical technology and services specialist Mytrus, which has launched the first electronic informed-consent technology to be endorsed by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Just last week, inVentiv Health announced a partnership with Medikly, a cloud-based platform for physician engagement, boosting inVentiv’s capacity to recruit investigators for clinical research.
