erceptive Informatics, the technology subsidiary of US-based contract research organisation Parexel International, has expanded the range of languages supported by its ClinPhone Interactive Web Response System (IWRS), reflecting the growing internationalisation of the drug development process.

The system, which complements the ClinPhone Interactive Voice Response System in enabling clinical study activities to be conducted through the internet and the telephone, now supports more than 80 languages via the web, including Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Korean, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Thai, Turkish and Ukrainian.

Notably, the ClinPhone IWRS now incorporates Japanese Kanji, the Chinese characters used in the Japanese writing system. Clients have been calling for this service due to the increasing importance of the Asia Pacific region to biopharmaceutical development, Perceptive Informatics noted.

“Perceptive is meeting increased client demand for innovative technology that facilitates the conduct of large-scale global trials and web-based data collection,” said Todd Kole, vice president, interactive voice and web response systems. “Some of the languages we have added to this IWRS enhancement correspond with the growth of trials being conducted in emerging regions.”

The web interface of the ClinPhone IWRS allows for integration with Perceptive’s Electronic Data Capture system and its Clinical Trial Management Systems as part of the business’ eClinical platform.
