Developing patient registries and other ‘real-world’ evidence to track clinical and economic value throughout the product lifecycle is the goal of a strategic collaboration between PharmaNet Development Group, the US-based provider of drug and medical device development services, and UK-based health economic consultancy Abacus International.

The new partners will draw on Abacus’ web-based software for managing e-registries, offering clients “a full array of services and experience in project management, site management and monitoring, data management, and analysis and communications”, they said.

PharmaNet’s clinical trial capabilities, including the design and implementation of ‘real-world’ research programmes, will combine with Abacus’ expertise in health economics, health technology assessment and market access solutions.

According to Jeff Trotter, executive vice-president, Phase IV Development for PharmaNet, these resources will enable the companies to support clients in documenting product value “throughout the entire development process”.
