US-based clinical research organisation (CRO) PRA has expanded its European presence with new facilities in the Netherlands and the UK.

The extra space was needed to accommodate growing staff numbers and strong demand for PRA’s Phase IIa-IIIb service offerings, the CRO said.

Its new Dutch facility in Utrecht will house more than 20 employees, becoming the first PRA office in the region focused primarily on clinical trials for product registration.

Staff from three other PRA locations in the Netherlands – Groningen, Zuidlaren and Assen – support early-development and laboratory studies.

Best practices

Previously the company’s product-registration staff in the Netherlands were either home-based or shared facilities with PRA employees in Mechelen, Belgium.

“But to better share best practices among employees, we felt that it was now necessary to provide a permanent office for the increasing Dutch Product Registration team,” noted vice president and general partner Frank van de Wijngaert.

The CRO’s 240-plus employees in Reading, UK have relocated to a larger, PRA-designed facility with space for staff expansion as well as modern facilities for client and project team meetings.
