US-based contract research organisation (CRO) PRA International has again widened its footprint in Central and Eastern Europe while also branching out into the Middle East with a new office in Israel.

PRA has set up an office in Kiev, Ukraine, to accommodate its 15 staff members, including 10 clinical research associates, currently operating in that market. With a population of nearly 50 million, the Ukraine has emerged as “an attractive location for global studies”, the CRO noted.

Last December, PRA opened a new facility for Phase I clinical trials in the Czech Republic. That in turn closely followed the announcement that PRA had consolidated its Early Development Services and Product Registration teams in Warsaw, Poland into a new, larger office to absorb the continuing growth of these operations.

The office in Tel Aviv, Israel builds on the initial presence established by PRA in that country through partnerships with local contractors in 2007.

Over the past several years, the CRO has put together a local resource that now extends to 17 full-time employees in Israel, including clinical research associates, clinical team managers and various other positions to support full-service Phase II to Phase IV clinical trials.
