SRA International, a US-based provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organisations and the commercial sector, has opened a new office in Paris, France to help drive the growth of the global contract research business it acquired along with Constella Group in August 2007.

The office in the centre of Paris is one of seven sites, including offices in the US, the UK, Germany, Croatia and Australia, dedicated to SRA’s full-service contract research operations. The Paris-based staff will specialise in strategic consulting, clinical trial conduct, project management and quality assurance.

The team will also help pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to develop comprehensive strategic plans for navigating the entire product development process, SRA said. The Fairfax, Virginia-based company’s other contract research services include regulatory affairs, data management and statistics.

“While we already had a small presence in France, this new office will extend our footprint and resources in serving our clients in that region,” commented Dr Dave Dworaczyk, vice-president and managing director of SRA’s contract research organisation (CRO) business unit. “It is also an ideal location as the French biopharmaceutical research and development market continues to grow.”

SRA’s CRO business unit currently operates under the Constella brand but the business is transitioning to the SRA brand, which will apply from January 2009. Headquartered in Durham, US, Constella Group was at the time of acquisition a privately held provider of global health consulting services with a staff of more than 1,500 spanning three interrelated service offerings: domestic health sciences, international health development and global drug development.
