US-based specialist drug and market development company CTI Clinical Trial and Consulting Services has expanded its presence in Europe with a new office in Madrid, Spain.

Establishing CTI Clinical Trial and Consulting Services Spain, SL will enable CTI better to meet the needs of its sponsors throughout Europe, the company said. Spain has “always been a key contributor to the clinical research field” and, in recent years has seen an increase in the number of locally conducted clinical trials, it noted.

“The pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries continue to be very interested in conducting clinical research in Spain due to the quality of the clinical sites, the investigators, and the data they provide,” commented Timothy Schroeder, president and chief executive officer of CTI.

The company’s therapeutic areas – it focuses on critically and chronically ill patients in the fields of solid organ transplants, hepatitis, infectious disease, hematology/bone marrow transplants and end-stage organ disease – “mesh well with the type of research conducted in Spain”, Schroeder added.

CTI’s Madrid office will complement its clinical trial services offering in Western Europe, where the company opened new headquarters in Ulm, Germany last June.
