The local subsidiary of d-Wise Technologies, a US-based company offering business-optimisation solutions for the life-science and healthcare industries, has strengthened its European presence and clinical-trial support offering by acquiring fellow UK technology consultants Dootsonic.
Both companies are privately owned and no financial terms were disclosed for the transaction. d-Wise is acquiring all of Dootsonic’s intellectual property and resources while Alistair Dootson, the latter’s managing director, will take on the position of life sciences director, Europe, at d-Wise.
The d-Wise portfolio already includes solutions for clinical-trial optimisation, meta-data management and clinical-data standards.
These extend to direct participation within life-sciences companies in technology implementation and integration; process optimisation and multi-phase development processes for clinical research; and the related data continuum from data capture through to submission.
Dootsonic specialises in support services for the management, analysis and reporting of data from clinical trials, including technology consultancy, implementation and governance of clinical-data standards, statistical and SAS (Statistical Analysis System) programming, and a variety of data optimisation and visualisation services.
SAS Grid
The acquisition of Dootsonic consolidates d-Wise’s European presence and reinforces its ability to provide clinical-systems implementation and data-standards services for global clients, including SAS Grid systems for clinical-trial programming and analytic teams, the latter noted.
Together, Dootsonic and d-Wise can offer SAS-certified programmers and consultants for on-site collaboration and services, as well as resources for outsourced clinical, information-technology and biometrics projects.
As part of the deal, d-Wise will take over the Dootsonic office in Manchester, UK and will relocate d-Wise’s current EU facilities from Marlborough to Manchester.
The integration of the two businesses “reflects our strategic growth plan to expand d-Wise globally and simultaneously enables us to better satisfy the demand from many of our existing European clients”, said Bud Whitmeyer, chief executive officer of d-Wise.
