Following its path as one of the most prestigious awards of its kind, this year’s PharmaTimes International Clinical Researcher of the Year competition has seen an incredible increase in entries and passes of more than 50% from 2018, and a 37% increase in essays submitted. It’s a good job we have such incredible, dedicated judges, with over 100 essays submitted in one category alone!

As many as 800 competitors from across the globe took part in this year's competition, which is comprised of three-stages, offering a unique opportunity for professionals working within the research fraternity to benchmark their skills against their peers in a learning environment, and have them judged by an independent judging panel of high-level industry leaders.

With 600 competitors going through to the second round and over 320 individuals submitting essays, the response to this year’s competition has been overwhelming. The 2019 event has been a truly international affair, with over 40 countries represented spanning Belgium, New Zealand, Egypt, Argentina, South Africa, India, Korea, China, Russia and Sweden among many, many others.

Not only have the participants come from such diverse areas across the globe, but they represent a wide array of companies such as Novo Nordisk, AbbVie, MDS, Sanofi, Synteract, PRA, PPD, ICON, Syneos, Covance and tens of others.

The competition is designed to challenge, recognise and reward the talent and passion of industry and academic researchers, including 2019’s new category: Start Up.

Start Up helps to ensure our categories are reflective and aligned to the evolving landscape and the important role of SSU teams and the skilled individuals in those teams, and proved incredibly successful with 94 entries, of which 72 went through to the second round!

The winners will be announced on 16th May at a gala dinner and awards ceremony in London, so don’t forget to book your tickets for the event here.

If you’re a clinical researcher in the USA, Central or South America - you still have time to enter! The entry deadline for Clinical Researcher of the Year - Americas has been extended to 25th February, so get involved here.
