A contract research organisation in the US has set up a health-information website in an effort to draw in potential study volunteers and boost recruitment for local clinical trials.
Healthagy LLC is a spin-off from Hurst, Texas-based Protenium Clinical Research, whose president Wade Strzinek is also president and founder of the new entity.
The Healthagy website offers targeted health content around topics such as diabetes, hypertension, migraine and cholesterol, alongside information on local clinical studies that are enrolling patients.
The goal is to “publish original health content to attract Internet users who are searching for health information but may be unaware of the opportunities offered by clinical research”, Healthagy says.
Recruitment challenge
Industry indicators suggest that only 5% of the eligible US population currently takes part in clinical research studies, it notes.
“My biggest challenge as president of Protenium Clinical Research is finding qualified patients to participate in our ongoing studies,” Strzinek comments.
