ICON, the global provider of outsourced development services based in Ireland, has announced two senior-level appointments that reflect the company’s strategic ambitions to consolidate its presence in the key emerging markets of Asia Pacific and Latin America.
The new recruits, both from high-profile global contract research organisations (CROs), are Wei Ming Goh as ICON vice president, Asia Pacific and Dr Dennis Hurley as vice president, Latin America.
Goh brings to ICON more than 14 years’ experience in the CRO industry and a strong track record in the Asia Pacific region, the company noted.
He joins ICON from Kendle, where he was vice president, Asia Pacific, responsible for all operational activities and partner relationships within the region. Before that, Goh spent 11 years with Quintiles, holding a number of senior management positions in operations and finance within the CRO’s Asian, Australian and African businesses.
Hurley has 30 years’ experience in the drug development industry. He comes to ICON from INC where, as vice president, Latin America, he was responsible for building the company’s business in the region.
He also co-founded ECA, Mexico’s largest CRO, in 1992 and expanded it to five other major markets in Latin America, ICON said.
Hurley supplements his operational-leadership capabilities in clinical development with a strong background in biostatistics, process improvement and project management.
