inVentiv Health Clinical, the US-based provider of drug-development services, has launched a web-based crowdsourcing tool to accelerate late-phase study enrolment by connecting physicians with real-world research opportunities.

The inVentiv Physician Network at www.inVentivDocNet.com is reaching out to clinicians interested in observational research, including patient registries, safety-surveillance programmes, post-approval safety studies, and other non-interventional or quality-of-life studies.

It is the latest in a string of initiatives by InVentiv Health to improve recruitment for clinical trials.

These include the recent launch of inVentiv Clinical Trial Recruitment Solutions (iCTRS), which combines InVentiv Health’s proprietary database, communications expertise and digital technologies to help sponsors accelerate patient recruitment, improve site productivity and reduce study timelines.

In June, InVentiv Health teamed up with online patient network PatientsLikeMe to accelerate patient recruitment. Three months earlier, the company took a “significant” equity stake in clinical technology and services specialist Mytrus, which has pioneered electronic informed consent to improve trial efficiency and patient retention.

Real-world information

By joining the inVentiv Physician Network, physicians can identify manageable research opportunities involving products used in everyday practice, while sponsors can access the busiest and most relevant practicing physicians for their studies, noted inVentiv Health Clinical.

“Together, physicians and sponsors can generate real-world information that is critically important in establishing the value of medical treatments and procedures,” it added.

The aim is to enrol “tens of thousands of physicians” to the Network during the year ahead, using an online promotional campaign that will target practitioners across a wide range of therapy areas.
