PharmaTimes Media has announced the Medical & Scientific Excellence Awards as the latest addition to its highly prestigious portfolio of events. Highlighting this important area of work within the pharmaceutical industry, the Medical & Scientific Excellence Awards are designed to recognise the outstanding achievements of medical and scientific professionals for the first time.

The Professional Medical / Scientific Advisor of the Year category is open to individuals who have made a significant contribution towards the evaluation, critiquing and communication of important medical/scientific information related to a company's products. "You will have done this as a functional expert who has produced class-leading work within your role," says project director, field medical affairs, IQVIA and category lead Paul Moreau.

The Lead Medical / Scientific Advisor of the Year category is also open to individuals who have made a significant contribution towards the evaluation, critiquing and communication of important medical/scientific information related to a company's products.

However, they will have done this "from a position of leadership, having brought together a group of colleagues in working towards a common purpose," says Paul.

Commenting on the reasons why all medical and scientific professionals to get involved in this brand new awards scheme, executive steering group member Jayne Packham, managing director of the Jayne Packham Consultancy, says:
