Due to the success of the Aspiring Communications Manager category which was introduced to the competition in 2018, this year has seen yet another entry point added for individuals, the Communications Manager of the Year.

The new Communications Manager category will give those who are more experienced within their communications role; the chance to compete at the top level. These two individual categories are open for entry alongside the established NHS, Charity, and International team challenges. This competition is open to in-house, agency and freelance communications professionals working in the UK market or globally.

This new challenge offers Communications Managers the unique opportunity to compete against their peers, see how their skills stack up against others within the industry, and to develop their planning and leadership skills. Candidates will also receive a detailed feedback report from a judging panel made up of industry experts, this has proven to be an excellent form of reflection and development for previous finalists in this competition.

Last year’s winner of the Aspiring Communications Manager category, Hannah Charleston, highlighted the benefits that she received from the competition, saying; “The PharmaTimes competition was a great learning experience. We were given a scenario and then had to use our knowledge to create and present a communication strategy back to a panel of judges. The judges were all very supportive but at the same time, challenged my thinking so that I learnt a lot. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to push themselves to approach scenarios in a more strategic way”.

Getting involved is easy and can be done by completing a simple entry form. PharmaTimes will then be in contact to invite entrants to the live finals day, which takes place in October. Nominations are also available for those wanting to show their manager that they think they’ve got what it takes to be successful. No preparation is needed for the finals day, just candidates with their creative and strategic minds switched on.
