The PharmaTimes Marketer & Communications Team of the Year Awards 2017 took place at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square on 9 November presented by newsreaders Charlie Stayt and Babita Sharma. This was an extra special pairing, as the two are so rarely seen together – Charlie is the face of breakfast news in the UK, while Babita reports on the events of the day for the world news arm of the same channel in the evening.

The event was attended by over 200 members of the industry, with Sabina Syed, managing director at Visions 4 Health and co-chair of the executive steering committee telling the audience that the 2017 Marketer of the Year competition had enjoyed nearly double the number of entries compared to previous years, while the Communication Team of the Year competition had to close for entries early “as we were at capacity.”

Speaking in the days after the ceremony, Mark Lawson, co-chair of the executive steering group said: “This year’s Awards Ceremony was a great way to celebrate the success of the finalists and category winners. Babita and Charlie were great hosts; while Chloe Brown and Sarah Whitecross gave a real insight to living with type 1 diabetes and reminded us all the positive impact our medicines can have on patients’ lives.

“Congratulations to Abbvie who entered a significant number of candidates this year – including category winners – and who ultimately pipped Lundbeck to the post to win ‘Company of the Year.’

“Sabina and I as co-chairs would like to thank the judges for their professionalism and dedication. We look forward to next year celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the competition and it is great to hear even more organisations will be entering candidates in 2018!”
