A leading initiative that celebrates innovative partnerships between pharmaceutical companies and patients has opened for entries.
Now entering its third year, the Patient Partnership Index is a ground-breaking initiative, developed by health communications agency Ovid Health, in partnership with the PharmaTimes, that aims to showcase best practice and raise standards across the industry.
Jenny Ousbey, CEO of OVID Health and founder of the Patient Partnership Index, said: “The Index has gone from strength to strength and has enabled many pharmaceutical companies to demonstrate some of the fantastic work they are doing in collaboration with patient communities.
“The aim of the Index is ultimately to share best practice and improve patient outcomes. We are very excited to see the entries for 2022 and encourage companies large and small to get involved at a UK or global level.”
An expert judging panel, who together bring decades of experience from the pharmaceutical industry, patient groups and health communications, will evaluate each entry against a set of bespoke metrics created by OVID Health. Top-scoring entries will be awarded Gold, Silver or Finalist standard to recognise excellence and set the benchmark for patient advocacy partnerships.
Building on the success of previous years, the Index 2022 will allow up to three entries from partnership projects based in the UK or at an above country level. New for this year, partnerships focused on putting the patient voice at the heart of clinical trials or research and development are also eligible to enter.
Results for the Patient Partnership Index 2022 will be covered exclusively in PharmaTimes, with the deadline for entries set for Friday 27 May 2022. Following the results announcement in June, OVID Health will host a virtual event bringing together expert judges and some of the highest achieving partnerships to share insights on what the future of patient advocacy should look like and how companies can best work with patient communities.
Last year’s event – which is available to view online – saw senior leaders from Gilead, LEO Pharma and Amicus Therapeutics share lessons from their partnerships. Case studies from the 2022 Index will be shared in the Patient Partnership Insights Report, due to be published in September.
